The Director General of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), Mr., has threatened legal action against the publisher of the Day Break Newspaper, Mr. Alusine Kargbo, following allegations of mass resignations within the agency.
In a WhatsApp conversation revealed by the newspaper, Massaquoi responded to inquiries about the resignations with threats and accusations. He dismissed the allegations as “blackmail” and warned that he would “invoke the law” if any negative stories were published.
The Day Break Newspaper has vowed to publish the full conversation and the allegations against Massaquoi, emphasizing its commitment to journalistic integrity. The newspaper has also questioned the NCRA Director General’s accountability to the public and his reluctance to address the concerns raised by the mass resignations.
The allegations against Massaquoi include the following:
Government Payment: The NCRA allegedly received a 63 billion Leones payment from the government for confirmation purposes, which was not repaid.
Victimisation: A former NCRA employee, Morrison I. B. Arouna, claimed to have been victimized by Massaquoi during his time at the agency.
Lack of Engagement: Massaquoi is accused of failing to address concerns raised by employees, including those related to working conditions and unfair treatment.
The NCRA Director General’s threats against the journalist have raised concerns about media freedom and the right to hold public officials accountable.
We now present the conversation between the NCRA Director General and Day Break Newspaper publisher Mr. Alusine Kargbo and allegations levied against him:

LETTER OF RESIGNATION
From: Morrison I. B. Arouna
Senior Planning & Policy Officer, NCRA.
To: The Director General,
NCRA
Dear Sir,
I write to resign my position as Senior Planning & Policy Officer from your institution effective 3rd September, 2024.
I had enjoyed working relationship with friends and colleagues except for the Director General who have victimized me for d past five years for reasons best known to him. But to God be the glory. It is well.
As a staunch Catholic, I believe in the existence of God Almighty and by extension the belief that there is a TOMORROW. Our journey in this world is too short. What remains now are the narratives that will be told someday.
I hope to be crossing paths with friends who have worked with especially both at Births & Deaths and in the Hub at HQ.
I shall submit to the Human Resource Directorate all NCRA properties assigned to my person while in service at the Planning & Policy Directorate at the earliest time. I remain sincerely yours, Morrison Arouna (Pope).
From an HR perspective, do you think this is good? No matter how hot you are, you should have engaged him or the HR.
In life, one should always think of the good days. There was a time when things were rosy and let those days cover up the rough days if there was any.
I wish you knew what was in the basket for you.
Coming to the Victimisation, have you ever for once engaged the Directorate of HR? Certainly, hell no.
Anyway, there is no need to say anything more
Don’t need to see anything. You are joking. Waiting to see your action and then you will see my reaction.
I will take this as your response sir.
