The Executive Director of Hilltop Hotels Group (New Brookfields Hotel) has responded to a letter from Alfred Kamanda dated July 10, 2024, requesting that they do not allow the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Sierra Leone Bar Association.

Kamanda alleged that the announcement of the meeting was ‘unlawful, unprocedural, and illegal,’ and stated that it was made without any legal authority.

In their response, the hotel management clarified their role as a business entity providing event spaces and accommodations. They emphasized that upon receiving the booking request, no prior notice was given regarding potential disputes over hosting the event. Accordingly, an agreement was reached with the clients to proceed with their event at the hotel.

Furthermore, the management disclosed that they have sought legal counsel on the matter. Based on legal advice, they indicated the necessity of obtaining a court injunction to potentially prevent the meeting scheduled for July 10th, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Therefore, they have formally requested the concerned parties to provide them with a court injunction to serve as legal protection in the event that the scheduled meeting is canceled.

The New Brookfields Hotel emphasizes that they remains committed to upholding its contractual obligations while ensuring compliance with legal procedures. They await further developments in this matter as they continue to engage with relevant stakeholders to resolve the issue amicably.
