The Baptist Convention Sierra Leone (BCSL), in partnership with the Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), has inaugurated a new Primary Eye Centre in Mongo, Falaba District.
The facility, launched on December 7, 2024, is set to provide much-needed eye care services in a region with limited access to medical support.
Designed to combat preventable blindness and vision impairments, the centre offers screenings, treatment for common eye conditions, and referrals for advanced care. Officials said the initiative aims to significantly reduce the burden of untreated eye diseases in the district.
During the opening ceremony, Rev. Dr. Joseph Samuel Fornah, Executive President of BCSL, called the centre “a beacon of hope,” underscoring its role in delivering comprehensive care to address not just physical health but also the social and emotional well-being of residents.
The project marks a critical milestone in improving healthcare accessibility for Falaba’s underserved communities.
