The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) regrets to announce the sudden death of our colleague, STEPHEN DOUGLAS, from heart attack, which sad event took place today Sunday 26th November 2023 at the 34 Military hospital, Freetown.
Until his death, Mr Douglas was the Editor of the News Watch Newspaper, former Editor of Awoko newspaper, and an Associate Member of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).
“This is shocking. Steve was active in our professional WhatsApp group this morning asking questions about the security situation in the country. He has been an amazing associate member of SLAJ, always ready to serve.
“He felt so much at home here working as a journalist. We will surely miss his critical mind. What a loss!” said SLAJ President, Ahmed Sahid Nasralla.
Our sincere condolences to the family in Freetown and in Canada.
May the Lord have mercy upon him and grant him eternal rest in Perfect Peace.

Sad lost of a fellow Canadian who loved Sierra Leone and its people deeply. He has been the teacher and kind of a mentor to the young Sierraleonian I consider my son.
