The Njala University community has launched an urgent appeal for financial assistance to support Dr. Augustine Amara, a lecturer in the Agricultural Extension Department, who has been diagnosed with a severe kidney condition requiring immediate medical treatment abroad.
In a heartfelt message shared by the university, it was announced that Dr. Amara is in need of life-saving surgery in India, which carries a total cost of $10,000.
So far, Njala University has contributed $5,000 towards his treatment, while Dr. Amara himself has raised an additional $3,000, bringing the total funds collected to $8,000, which leaves a financial gap of $2,000, not including travel and welfare expenses.
The university is called out to the general public, including Njala alumni and the wider academic community, to assist in bridging the remaining gap. “Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us a step closer to saving a life,” the university emphasized in their appeal.
To facilitate donations, the university has provided the following details: contributions can be made via Orange Money at +232 78 814 751. International supporters are encouraged to reach out through WhatsApp on the same number for further guidance.
In addition to monetary support, the university pleaded with individuals to share the appeal across their networks and social media platforms to raise awareness and garner additional support for Dr. Amara’s medical needs.
