Kenema residents can breathe easy, for the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have officially denied rumors of a curfew, urging the public to ignore false claims fueling unnecessary panic.

On the 3rd September 2025, police unequivocally confirmed that there is no curfew in effect.

They urged residents to continue their daily activities without concern, stating, “Let it be absolutely clear: THERE IS NO CURFEW IN KENEMA.” This direct assertion counters the misinformation spreading within the community.

Additionally, the SLP described the claims of a proposed curfew as “baseless, misleading, and intended to incite unnecessary fear and panic among residents.”

The police appealed to the public to carry on with their routines peacefully and to refrain from sharing unverified information.

They warned that anyone caught spreading false rumors could face legal consequences.

In closing, the SLP reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining peace, law, and order in the region. Assistant Inspector General of Police for the Eastern Region, Kenema Division, Francis Moses Tower, confirmed the notice and emphasized that no curfew has been imposed. He urged residents to dismiss the unfounded rumors as entirely false.
