The National Revenue Authority, National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), and the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA), have signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a step toward increasing national revenue and stop leaks.
The MoU event took place at the NRA offices on Gloucester Street. It brings in a new era of interagency collaboration with the goal of improving transparency and speeding processes in the maritime and petroleum industries, two of the nation’s main sources of revenue.
Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura, the NRA’s Commissioner General, who hosted the event, explained the value of real execution over formality. She urged all parties to stay dedicated to the goals of the Memorandum of Understanding, saying that the value of the MoU lies in translating it into concrete action.
Mr. Hassan Lahai, who represented the SLMA, and Mr. Brima Baluwa Koroma, the Director General of the NPRA, were also present at the signing. Each of the three agencies stated that they are fully committed to cooperating to increase supervision, address compliance gaps, and create combined systems for more effective tax collection.
The MoU shows key areas of collaboration, such as harmonizing policies, cooperative technical interactions, and enhancing capabilities. It should improve information exchange, promote operational synergy, and support long-term financial viability.
