The Office of National Security (ONS), in collaboration with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Inspector General of Police (IG), has issued a stern warning to all political parties to maintain peace and strictly adhere to the Constitution of Sierra Leone during the upcoming holiday season.

Addressing the nation, the ONS Boss emphasized that any political group or individual found violating the law will face the full force of the law without exception. The statement comes as part of a broader nationwide security plan aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and residents throughout the festive period.

Supporting the initiative, the CDS confirmed that all security forces have been strategically deployed across the country. He further stated that all social gatherings, grading ceremonies, and public events must obtain police clearance to guarantee public safety. Any unapproved events, acts of street fighting, or disorderly conduct will be met with decisive legal action.

The ONS leadership underscored that maintaining peace and order during the holidays is a collective responsibility. Citizens were encouraged to celebrate in harmony, respect the law, and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safe and enjoyable festive period.

“The security institutions are united in their mission to protect lives and property. Political actors and citizens alike must exercise restraint and uphold peace,” the ONS Boss stated.

This announcement reaffirms the government’s commitment to peaceful governance and the enforcement of the law, particularly during periods of increased public activity and social gatherings.
