The Office of National Security (ONS) in Sierra Leone released a public statement on June 4, 2025, regarding alleged vandalism and looting at the Magbass Sugar Cane Factory in the Tonkolili district. The ONS acknowledged that one of its staff members, the current Provincial Security Coordinator for the Northern Region, Harold Samson Campbell, has been implicated in the report.

The ONS described the matter as grave and has directed the Ethics and Integrity Management Committee (EIMC) to launch a comprehensive internal investigation. The EIMC’s mandate is to examine the allegations meticulously, determine Mr. Campbell’s involvement, if any, and present its findings to the National Security Coordinator’s office.

Additionally, ONS noted that the Resident Minister for the Northern Region has initiated a separate team to conduct a preliminary investigation into the acts of vandalism and looting at the factory. The ONS reiterated its commitment to the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability, assuring the public that the matter will be investigated rigorously.

The ONS stated that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure justice is served, and individuals found culpable will face appropriate consequences to deter future misconduct. To facilitate the ongoing investigation, Mr. Harold Samson Campbell has been recalled to Freetown and is cooperating with the inquiry.
