The Office of the Clerk of Parliament has issued a public notice inviting all Vote Controllers from the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of Government to attend a crucial meeting on Monday, December 8, 2025.
The meeting, under the guidance of the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Hon. Kekura Vandy, will focus on discussions surrounding the smooth conduct of the 2026 budgetary approval process for the services of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
The gathering, which will take place at 1:00 PM in Committee Room One of the Parliament Building, aims to address important issues related to the timely and efficient approval of the national budget.
Vote Controllers, who are responsible for managing and overseeing the financial allocations of their respective MDAs, will be expected to engage in discussions that are essential to enhancing and strengthening the budgetary approval process.
In a statement, Parliament emphasized the importance of this meeting, noting that any failure by a Vote Controller to attend the session on time would be considered “Contempt of Parliament.” Such an action could result in the withholding of budgetary allocations and heads of estimates for the affected MDAs.
Parliament assured all relevant stakeholders that the discussions prior to the commencement of the budgetary scrutiny by the Committee of Supplies would help streamline the approval process and ensure that the 2026 budget is in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Standing Orders of Parliament.
In light of the above, all Vote Controllers from MDAs are required to be present and punctual for the meeting. The session is viewed as a critical step in ensuring the smooth processing of the national budget, and it is expected to lay the groundwork for a more efficient and transparent budget approval cycle in the future.
The Office of the Clerk of Parliament has urged full participation, with the understanding that these discussions will play a pivotal role in shaping the budget approval process for the upcoming year.
