A Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, political parties and the majority people of sierra Leone will protest peacefully on Monday the 25th October 2021, to call on the judiciary of Sierra Leone headed by the chief justice, Desmond Babatunde Edwards to ensure fair, justice rule of law and respect our constitution in Sierra Leone.
Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, the leader and chairman of the opposition Alliance Democratic Party, was granted bail by the honorable judge, Justice Samuel Omodele Taylor on the 7th September 2021 and had met all his bail conditions. But the Master and Registrar is asking for a mere police report of which the police refused to give to him as to ascertain the fire incident of his house in Makeni.
The Majority people have consider this as a conspiracy for the continued detention of Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and have discovered that the instruction came from the orders from above for the dissapproval of his bail inorder to silence him as he is one of the most vocal critic and opposition to president Julius Maada Bio and his SLPP government. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has been in detention for 15 months now for allegations bordering on sexual penetration.
They are collectively demanding the judiciary of sierra leone to adhere to the rule of law, fair trial and the constitution of sierra leone, to stop the prolonged detention of Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray which is considered to be abuse of his human and constitutional rights as citizen of sierra leone.
They have also observed with dismay and disappointment the alarming increase of food and basic commodities prices in the country. a price of bag of rice has doubled and other basic commodities have either doubled or trippled in prices since President Bio came to power.
“enough is enough. we will peacefully assemble to show our dissatisfaction at the cotton tree at siaka steven street in Freetown on Monday 25th october 2021. we shall not relent as a collective human rights civil society organizations, political parties and we the people to pile pressure on the authorities to do what is right for the people and the country. the people of sierra Leone deserves a better living condition. it is our right to peacefully protest to show our dissatisfaction in governance”.
