Message from I am Almon Sall about the investigation of we late brother Victor Onie Williams read
“Hello and my humble respects to everyone. I am happy to report that I have been formally informed by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police that they have totally ruled me out of the investigations into the alleged Murder on 5th December 2024 of Victor Onie Williams, my late brother, friend and partner model (may his cherished soul rest in perfect peace. Amen).
I was arrested from my house on 23rd December 2024 and detained by the Police who asked me to make Statements on my whereabouts and what I know about the events of the day of the death including most especially, my posts on Facebook.
I honestly explained to the Police exactly what transpired that day from the moment I read about the death of Victor Onie Williams inside our Albert Academy School’s WhatsApp group and how I read the shocking news that his corpse was at Rokupa Hospital.
Since Rokupa Hospital is near my house, I rushed there with my small car and with my younger brother in the car with me. On our arrival, me and my younger brother saw Victor Onie Williams lying on a stretcher outside with a crowd around him and some of them taking his pictures as he laid there. I immediately burst into tears and started to stop people from taking photos.
There was an argument in the crowd that Onie was not dead even though the Nurse at Rokupa Hospital said he was dead. Some of those in the crowd then used one jeep to put Onie inside and move Onie to the next nearby hospital for a Second Opinion since there were no doctors on duty at Rokupa but the nearby private Life Care Hospital always had medical doctors on duty.
I drove behind the jeep in my car with my younger brother in the car with me.
I was present when the Doctors at Life Care Hospital rushed to examine Onie after he was moved from the jeep and I was also present when the Doctors pronounced in my presence that Victor Onie Williams was indeed dead.
However, many people were still posting on Social Media that Victor Onie Williams was still alive and that it was a prank and a hoax.
That is what caused me to do my Facebook post. In a bid to transmit the very sad news to all our friends that Victor was indeed dead, I posted that he was indeed pronounced dead and it was right in front of my eyes.
I was emotional – it was my very first time of ever seeing a lifeless corpse of someone I knew. The feeling of despair is hard to explain. I am still traumatized.
The Police have extensively asked me questions, checked my phone and various times including the time of the post that I saw in my school’s Albert Academy WhatsApp group.
The Police also saw that my last conversation with Victor Onie Williams was on the day of my birthday November 24th 2024 when Onie sent birthday greetings to me and I replied to thank him. That was the last time me and Onie chatted and it was on WhatsApp.
After 4 days of questioning and cross checking my statements, the Police decided to release me on Bail last month.
Today, I have been informed that I have been totally cleared and I don’t need to report to the CID anymore.
I am a grateful man today.
Firstly, I want to say thanks to God Almighty for leading the way throughout this difficult time.
Secondly, to my wonderful family especially my parents, my daughter and last but not least, my wonderful mama Dr Sylvia Olayinka Blyden for standing by me throughout this journey to the extent of signing the One Hundred Million Leones Bail Bond for me because you believed in my innocence. God will bless you Mama.
Many other very good people in society stood up for me including statesmen like Solomon Jamiru Esq. and many other Lawyers especially Momoh Conteh Esq. of Brewah & Co Law Firm. God will bless all of you for me. I’m grateful.
You all stood up for me, fight for me, cheered me up when I bitterly cried over the bullying I faced and you made me stronger than I was. May Allah bestowed his choicest blessings to fall on you all today and always
I am grateful to the Sierra Leone Police and the CID especially the Homicide Syndicate unit. Detention is not pleasant but our Police were very professional and did not treat me badly. Thank you to the current Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu for leading a professional Police.
To my friends and adopted brothers and sisters and my Fans (YES, my Fans!!), you guyz are the real deal. Thank you for everything and I promise to always be there for you when you need me. May God bless our paths together and always remember that we are always here for each other.
Yours forever faithful,
Alimamy Sall Kamara aka Almon Sall
