Police in Sierra Leone have fired gunshots and tear gas around the office of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) headquarters at Brookfields, Freetown.
This is coming amidst a planned peace peaceful protest by the party scheduled for today Wednesday 21st June, 2023.
The APC had said that it would stage a peaceful march to the office of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) in Freetown following the failure of the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohammed Konneh and his electoral commissioners to resign or address their concerns regarding the forthcoming election as demanded in an earlier press conference.
Sierraloaded earlier reported how armed police and military officers were stationed across several parts of Freetown while the route leading to the APC office was barricaded. Supporters of the party had converged at the party headquarters to honor the party’s call for a peaceful march.
“We no dey gree, Konneh must go”, the protesters chanted in a video made available to Sierraloaded.
However, as at the time of filling of this report, gunshots have been heard around the party office. Witnesses said police fired live bullets and teargas at the protesters.

You guys think that APC is the only people in sierra Leone. Only APC people who are in bondage not all of us. We are no longer under any country, citizens must obey the law of the state not political parties.

He bulldozed to the State house, over powered parliamentary rights and became the majority which gave him right to have the speaker, changed every top on department to his loyalists, disfigured the Army making sure all the heads of the paramilitary wings are Mende,made sure all the heads of the police forces are Mende, changed the political landscape by imposition, paid no attention to atrocities, made sure it’s okay to kill the Northerns,now he has won our brothers and our Northern clans can no longer act as one. He has again failed the nation yesterday when he clearly had the opportunity to call on all political parties. Mada will pay a heavy price one day. Let’s ask these few questions; where is Sadam Hussain? Where’s colonel Gaddafi? Where’s Idi Amin? Where’s Dr. Siaka Stevens? Where’s Samuel K Doe? Where’s King Pharaoh? Mada be worn?

No one political party will change the electoral commissioner unless the parliament,So the APC’s are not intelligent.

APC is responsible for the dis orderness of people presently. They believe in violences, disobey law and order. I have observed them doing this over the year.

The All People Congress (APC) from the head to a least members are very unsatisfied. You guys has to remembered when the Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) lost their election in 2012, non of them came out to protest against the APC part in Sierra Leone. They were strictly told not to come neither the argue with any APC members by their leader Julius Maada Bio. Why the former president Arnest Bai Koroma, Samura Kamara and others stakeholders should not advice their supporters against this violence in the county please. There is a proverb which say you can not fating your pig on a market day, please let them go back to their drawing board and re-arrange themselves for another coming election by 2028 in Jesus’s mighty name
