Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abdul Moijueh has not ruled out taking legal action over a recent viral post from a Facebook Blogging page.
The post, which linked him to a scandal involving a police vehicle and a married woman, was described by Moijueh as unprofessional and unethical.
Speaking in an interview, Moijueh explained that on the day of the incident, he was off duty and, as usual, his personal driver drove him home using his official police vehicle. Later that night, while it was raining, the driver reportedly took the same vehicle and went to visit a woman said to be his girlfriend.
Moijueh said he received a call around 3:00 AM informing him that both his driver and the vehicle were being held at Kissy Police Station. He went there to understand the situation and collected the vehicle.
According to him, at around 9:00 AM that same morning, his wife showed him a post from Facebook. Born 2 Blog, which first published the story and shared images of the police vehicle, posted a write-up that appeared to link him to the incident. Moijueh said no one from the blog contacted him for his side of the story before publishing. He added that although the post did not mention his name directly, it used photos of his official vehicle, which led to public misunderstanding.
He said he immediately informed his boss, Inspector General William Fayia Sellu, and that the matter is now being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department.
Moijueh also denied ownership of a computer found in the vehicle, saying it belongs to his driver. He explained that pictures on the device clearly show his driver and the driver’s family, not him.
When asked if he plans to take legal action for what he called an unprofessional act on social media, Moijueh said that will depend on the outcome of the Criminal Investigation Department’s investigation.
Earlier reports had claimed that a man suspected his wife of infidelity and found her with a police officer. The officer allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind items including boxers, condoms, a laptop, and a police vehicle.
Moijueh has made it clear that while the vehicle is his official police transport, he was not present at the scene and had no involvement in the incident.
