The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has announced a recruitment drive to enlist both university graduates and non-graduates into the force at the rank of Police Constable.
In a public notice issued on May 17, 2025, the SLP stated that a limited number of vacancies are available.
Application forms can be obtained from the Human Resources Directorate at the SLP Garment Factory in Kingtom, Freetown, as well as at the Regional Police Headquarters in Makeni, Kenema, Port Loko, and Bo.
Completed application forms must be submitted to either the Human Resources Directorate in Freetown or the Human Resources Partners at the respective Regional Police Headquarters. The SLP emphasized that only valid application forms bearing the official stamp and signature of the Director of Human Resources will be considered.
The eligibility criteria for all applicants, both graduates and non-graduates, are as follows:
- Must be a citizen of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
- Must be between 18 and 30 years of age.
- Must submit a certificate of good character/behavior issued by a Senior Government Official, Paramount Chief, Religious Leader, Mayor or Chairperson, or Local Police Partnership Chairperson.
- Must possess a valid National Identity Card.
- (For University Graduates) Must hold a degree relevant to policing.
- (For Non-Graduates) Must have obtained at least three (3) credits in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), including English Language.
- Must have no criminal record and be willing to undergo a comprehensive medical screening, including tests for illicit substances.
- Must return the completed application form to one of the designated submission points.
- Must submit the completed application on or before Friday, 31st May 2025, at 4:00 PM prompt.
The public notice was signed by the Media and Public Relations Department of the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters in Kingtom. Members of the public who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply before the stated deadline.
