Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Amadu Mannah, who Chaired the engagement, informed that lawlessness and indiscipline are no longer limited to the Western Urban Area citing a scenario along the Segwema-Kailahun where a truck loaded with hundreds of jerry can palm oil was completely looted by youths and set ablaze because it was involved in a fatal road crash.
He furthered that their Executive has set a standard by officially decorating newly promoted senior officers and therefore expressed optimism for such practice to be followed in the future.
The newly promoted Senior Police Officers, he said, include 5 AIGs, 9 Commissioners of Police (CP) and 32 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).
He went on to say that promotion of other ranks will soon be done adding that the 2021 recruitment was put on hold to pave way for a smooth promotion process.
“We cannot be chasing two rats at the same time,” said AIG Mannah assuring that sooner the promotion process is over, they will resume the recruitment.
On his part, Head of Media, ACP Brima Kamara stressed that the SLP do not condone cover-up, bringing to light the ongoing investigations into the conduct of Inspector Alfred whose photo with supporters of a political party is circulating on social media. SLP, he said, is apolitical for which they are investigating Inspector Alfred.
He disclosed how the SLP was able to police the main opposition APC Emergency Delegates Conference with no cause of security threat.
Head of Operations at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police, Francis Lebbie, also informed that the homicide case involving Madam Mariama Tucker and a first year University Student is still under investigation.
