Port Loko District is set to host a major civic engagement event aimed at empowering young people to play active roles in governance.

The Ministry of Information and Civic Education, under the leadership of Minister C. Bah, will convene a two-day “Civic Series” on Monday, May 5, and Tuesday, May 6, at the District Council Hall.

The initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader effort to promote civic awareness and strengthen youth participation in national development. The event is expected to bring together a wide range of stakeholders including youth leaders, government ministers, members of parliament, civil society actors, and other key influencers.

A coordination group has been formed to ensure the success of the program. It includes dynamic youth leaders from diverse backgrounds—entrepreneurs, university students, civil society members, entertainers, lawyers, gender advocates, and skilled workers. Their collective input is expected to enrich the planning process and ensure the event reflects the voices and interests of young people across the district.

Representatives from the Ministry and partner organizations are also part of the group and will be providing additional details and support as preparations advance.

Participants are encouraged to stay engaged, share ideas, and ask questions to help shape a successful and impactful Civic Series in Port Loko.
