The Ministry of Health has launched the Pregnancy Registration and Service Tracking Application (PReSTack) to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the country. This application effectively monitors and tracks pregnant women.

It will keep a record of every significant maternal event in the nation and provide early warning signs for life-saving interventions. According to the UN, the maternal mortality ratio has decreased to 443 per 100,000 live births (2023).

The ultimate objective is to reduce maternal mortality to less than 300 per 100,000 live births by 2025, and further decrease it to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. Minister of Health Austin Demby stated that PReSTrack will enable the Ministry to achieve these targets.

The Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh as the keynote speaker, emphasized that PReSTrack technology will minimize delays and facilitate prompt responses. He assured that PReSTrack will not replace nurses’ jobs, but rather enhance their work. The Chief Minister challenged the Ministry of Health to ensure that by 2038, the maternal mortality rate is reduced to 0. Chief Minister officially launched the Application.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health, DSTI has developed PReSTrack, utilizing technology to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes. The application can be used both online and offline.
