President Julius Maada Bio and other Heads of State, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society representatives will gather in Dar es Salaam from January 27-28, 2025, for the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit.

The high-profile event aims to address the pressing challenge of electricity access across Africa, with discussions focused on implementing actionable strategies to transform the continent’s energy sector.

Ahead of the summit, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone, engaged in strategic dialogues with Jean Van Wetter, CEO of Enabel, Belgium’s Federal Government Agency, and William Brent of Husk Power Systems, a leading player in renewable energy solutions in Africa. Both stakeholders expressed strong interest in collaborating with Sierra Leone to bolster its energy infrastructure and expand electricity access for underserved communities.

The Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit is expected to mobilize diverse stakeholders to drive investment in renewable energy, scale innovative energy solutions, and foster partnerships to close the continent’s electricity gap. Currently, over 600 million people in Africa lack reliable electricity access, posing a critical barrier to economic growth, education, and healthcare development.

Attendees at the summit will outline a roadmap for increasing energy access, aligning with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Discussions will cover financing mechanisms, renewable energy innovations, and policy reforms necessary to achieve universal electrification across the region.
