Popular Sierra Leonean social media influencer and communication specialist, Vickie Remoe has probbed voters’ intuition ahead of the June 2023 elections.
Remoe was concerned as to voter’s choice to vote the present administration as the country’s economy continues to be in the doldrums.
“Can you win an election in Sierra Leone if you’ve completely destroyed the economy and depreciated the currency by 100% in 18 months before election?” Remoe asked on Twitter.
She added by asking whether locals will choose to vote based on region or ethnicity.
One of her followers cast doubt as to whether any incoming government could have a real intention to solve the country’s economic crisis.
Another follower tried to draw comparisons of the country’s economy to that of Kenya’s but Remoe refuted the follower, asking him to compare the country to her immediate neighbours, Guinea and Liberia.
Sierra Leoneans will go to the polls this June in multi-tier elections. Experts believe it will be one of the most contested since the 2007 elections.
