The Presidential candidate of Sierra Leone’s opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara has departed the country for the United States of America.
Gleaner reports that Kamara will be meeting and holding strategic engagements with Sierra Leoneans in the USA on his vision for a peaceful and prosperous nation.
Sierra Leoneans will go to the polls on 24th June 2023 to cast their votes in the presidential, parliamentary and local councils’ elections. President Maada Bio, flagbearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is seeking re-election for a second term in office but will face stiff competition from the opposition Kamara’s who also contested the election in the 2018 election.
On Monday, Kamara retained Hon. Chernoh Maju Bah popularly known as Cherico as this running mate tickets for the forthcoming election while Bio is also running alongside Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the incumbent Vice President.
In a recent interview, Kamara had averred that Sierra Leone is not difficult to develop because the population is small and the country is endowed with riches, but do not have a visionary that will utilise all the riches to change the lives of the people.
“I have been working for this country for over 40 years and I have been giving advices and putting forward programs that will enhance growth, some indeed were utilised others not. But I believe in myself as I have the experience, the innovation and vision to change the cause of Sierra Leone for the better.
“Kamara will promise the people of Sierra Leone that he will restore the country’s lost glory in education, health, agriculture, public sector, energy, and other priority areas, in order to enhance human capital and serve as a catalyst for the country’s prosperity.”, He added.
