The Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has received members of the Commonwealth Governance and Peace Directorate in Freetown ahead of the June 24th General Elections.

This took place at her office today the 27th of February 2023.

Among the delegation received by the Mayor was the Assistant Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Prof Luis G. Franceschi and his colleagues Dr Michelle Scobie and Mr Abubakar Abdullahi of the Commonwealth Governance and Peace Directorate.

According to the Mayor, they are in Sierra Leone ahead of the 24th June 2023 General Elections to engage stakeholders in peace promotion.

The Mayor had a very constructive discussion with the team where she reaffirmed her personal commitment to promoting peace both in the run-up to and after the elections.
