The Inspector General of Police (IGP), William Fayia Sellu has donated four brand-new blue boxer HLX 125 motorbikes to the Regional Police Commander South, AIG Brima Kanneh in a move geared towards enhancing the operational efficiency of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) force.
The official handover ceremony took place on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, at the Regional Police Headquarters in Bo.
The motorbikes, intended to bolster police mobility and facilitate swift responses, will be distributed across the South and Eastern regions, with each region receiving two motorcycles.
Expressing his gratitude, AIG Brima Kanneh, the Regional Police Commander South, received the motorbikes on behalf of his region. He acknowledged the significance of the donation, emphasizing that the new motorbikes would enable law enforcement officers to access remote and hard-to-reach communities and villages effectively.
Accompanying AIG Kanneh, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Patrick L. Dumbuya, the Regional Support Officer, praised the IGP for his commitment to supporting the region with adequate mobility resources. He highlighted the invaluable role these motorbikes would play in ensuring quick response to distress calls, especially in areas susceptible to violence, within the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Dumbuya expressed optimism about the positive impact the motorbikes would have on police operations in the South. He underlined their importance in monitoring deployments and swiftly attending to incidents, further reinforcing the safety and security of the region’s residents.
Speaking on behalf of the police force, Dumbuya commended the IGP-led administration for its generous support and contribution. He lauded William Fayia Sellu as one of the most supportive Inspector Generals of Police in the history of the force. Dumbuya assured that the donated motorbikes would be used solely for their intended purpose, enhancing police operations and ensuring the safety of communities in the South and Eastern regions.
The donation of these motorbikes marks a significant step towards improving the mobility and effectiveness of law enforcement officers, reaffirming the commitment of the Sierra Leone Police force to serving and protecting the citizens of Sierra Leone.
