Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has held high-level discussions with the Secretary-General of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), H.E. Moussa Saleh Batraki, aimed at deepening strategic partnerships and enhancing development cooperation.
The meeting, which took place in Freetown, comes as part of the Government of Sierra Leone’s broader efforts to align national development priorities with regional and international frameworks.

Dr. Sengeh emphasized the significance of Sierra Leone’s current position on the continental stage, particularly President Julius Maada Bio’s role as Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. According to the Chief Minister, this leadership position offers Sierra Leone a platform to advance its development agenda and contribute more effectively to regional integration, innovation, and sustainable development efforts.
Central to the discussion was the Government’s “Big Five” agenda, a national strategy focused on driving progress across key sectors, including education, agriculture, technology, and governance. Dr. Sengeh pointed to recent achievements under the agenda, citing the case of a young local innovator who, through government-backed initiatives, has begun supplying rice to the World Food Programme’s national school feeding programmed. He described this as an example of how targeted policy and strategic support can produce tangible outcomes, including job creation and improved livelihoods.

The meeting also explored opportunities for enhanced collaboration with OACPS member states, particularly in areas such as trade, technology transfer, food security, and climate resilience. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to exploring partnerships that align with sustainable development goals and regional aspirations.
Secretary-General Batraki, in turn, welcomed Sierra Leone’s proactive approach to development and partnership building. He reaffirmed OACPS’s readiness to support initiatives that foster inclusive growth and regional solidarity.
The engagement marks a continued push by the Sierra Leonean government to strengthen its global partnerships and ensure that national progress is both sustainable and inclusive.
