To bolster food security and support the national Feed Salone initiative, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has established a 100-acre rice farm in Jandama, Peje Chiefdom, Pujehun District.
The initiative, known as the Radical Inclusion Community Engagement (RICE) Farm, aims to enhance local agricultural production and reduce reliance on imported rice, a staple food in Sierra Leone.
The project is a part of the Chief Minister’s broader vision to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure that communities can achieve self-sufficiency in food production. By engaging local farmers and providing them with the necessary resources and training, the RICE Farm initiative seeks to increase rice yields and improve the livelihoods of residents in the Pujehun District.
The RICE Farm is expected to serve as a model for similar agricultural projects across the country. By leveraging modern farming techniques and sustainable practices, the initiative aims to maximize productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
The project has already garnered significant support from local leaders and the community, who see it as a vital step towards achieving long-term food security and economic development.
