Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has proposed solutions to the country’s persistent challenges in accessing sustainable electricity.
To address the electricity access issues, Sengeh advocated for investments in renewable energy (RE). He emphasized the importance of increasing solar investments to sustain base generation during dry seasons and complement hydro contributions during the rainy season.
Using a chart to illustrate his proposal, Sengeh highlighted that 35% of the country’s current total energy comes from renewable sources.
Sengeh’s recommendations aim to address the ongoing energy needs of Sierra Leone and promote the transition towards sustainable and reliable electricity generation.
With all due respect to you, Chief Minister (CM), this is not what the people of Sierra Leone need at this time: we need actions not proposals; over six months ago, president Julius Maada Bio appointed someone as Chairman of the Special Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security in Sierra Leone. Was that a joke? Or else that commission should be presenting to Sierra Leoneans the initiatives they have identified, adopted, and are about to roll out to address the persistent problems particularly in the energy and food sectors. It may seem all you are doing is to buy time and play games with the minds of Sierra Leoneans so that we remain hopeful that something big will happen soon.
Please CM, enough with the proposals and make some effort to roll out tangible projects to solve our problems.
Seriously: Our country is weighing on a dangerous atmosphere! But all they can do is to say things that are not tangible to the problem: As if Sierra Leonean don’t have BRAIN in their SKULL.
