Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, held a stakeholder engagement with various institutions that are working to support the President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s Heads of State Summit in Freetown.
According to Chief Minister Senheh, they have hosted several ECOWAS meetings flawlessly and introduced thousands of people to Sierra Leone’s hospitality.
“In the upcoming week, we are hosting all the Chief Justices from ECOWAS and the Ministers of Health in their own summits. We recently had the Chiefs of Defense Staff and the Ministers of Information and Communication. Seamless.” He stated.

He further added that, but all this will peak with the High-Level Heads of State Summit to be hosted and chaired by H.E President Bio. Before that, we will also commission the ECOWAS Logistics Depot situated in Lungi.
In preparation for the Summit in July, according to him, the government and private sector partners are investing in new conferencing and hotel facilities in Freetown (Bintumani) and Lungi (with credible partners like Hilton).
“We are also investing in making sea travel better by bringing new ferries to augment what’s available now. Other infrastructure investments include nearly 50MW solar energy plants and more. These investments will make Sierra Leone a premier conference country in the sub-region, a vision of His Excellency.’’ He explained.

Additionally, Chief Minister Sengeh stated that ‘’we can already see the impacts on the economy. Over 1,500 jobs have been created as part of these efforts (formal and contract), and dozens of service providers and SMEs are being supported. But there is more to do.”
He continued to state that his job is to lead such a coordination under the visionary directive of President Bio. And they have lots of people already volunteering to support this process, and “I thank them. My appeal is to you; the ordinary Sierra Leone is simple.”
In conclusion, he said, “I want you to own this process. I want you to be proud of Sierra Leone. 65 years of Independence. 41 years after hosting the OAU. We are not where we want to be, but we are on the right track. We have plenty to celebrate and much more to do. My belief is simple- together, we will deliver on making Sierra Leone a middle-income country by 2039.”
