The Senior Accountant at West Africa Operations and Management Company (WAOMC), Lamin Tarawallay, has been remanded at Pademba Road Prison in Freetown. Magistrate Sahr Kekura ordered his detention on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in connection with the ongoing Hastings Toll Gate Fraud case.

Tarawallay faces six charges, including Conspiracy to Defraud, Uttering forged documents, and Larceny by Servant.

The particulars of the offense on count 1 reveal that between Friday, November 1st, 2024, and Monday, November 4th, 2024, at Hastings Toll Gate in Freetown, Tarawallay conspired with unknown individuals to defraud WAOMC.

Counts 2, 3, 4, and 5 allege that Tarawallay forged and uttered documents, specifically Standard Chartered Bank Cash Deposit Slips, with face values of one hundred and forty-two thousand, seven hundred and eighty-nine Leones and two hundred and eighty-three thousand, one hundred Leones, respectively. These documents were purportedly prepared and signed by other employees of WAOMC.

Moving on to Count 6, it is stated that Tarawallay, as a Senior Accountant at WAOMC, stole three hundred and sixty-four thousand, four hundred and four Leones from the company.

During the court proceedings, no plea was taken from Tarawallay when the charges were read. The police prosecutor, A.S.P Dabor, requested a short adjournment to prepare witnesses for the case.
