Former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and distinguished Member of Parliament for Pujehun District, Rt. Hon. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, has donated NLe 300,000 (approximately USD 15,000) to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) West Urban District Executives, reinforcing his commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures nationwide.
The donation, made yesterday in Aberdeen, forms part of Hon. Tunis’ broader NLe 5 billion nationwide pledge aimed at building a stronger, more cohesive SLPP. Similar financial interventions have already been extended to party structures in Moyamba, East Urban, Bo, and Tonkolili districts, with West Urban now benefiting from the initiative.
Party officials said the support aligns with the BIG FIVE GAME CHANGER Agenda of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, particularly the pillar focused on Investing in Tomorrow for a Prosperous SLPP.
During the visit, Hon. Tunis paid courtesy calls on party supporters and key stakeholders, reaffirming his unwavering dedication to grassroots empowerment, party unity, and the consolidation of the developmental gains recorded under President Bio’s administration.
He highlighted two key areas of focus: strengthening grassroots mobilisation to promote unity and progress within the party, and intensifying public education on nation-building. In this regard, he placed special emphasis on the ongoing national campaign against drug abuse, notably the “Say No to Kush” initiative.
The SLPP West Urban District Executives expressed profound appreciation for Hon. Tunis’ consistent support, describing the donation as timely and strategic. They pledged to intensify their efforts at the grassroots level to ensure the party retains political power in the 2028 general elections.
The event concluded with the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation to Rt. Hon. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, as party supporters reaffirmed their loyalty and confidence in his leadership and vision for a united and resilient SLPP.
