Sierra Leone was the only African country approved for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact by the United States Government without any modifications to its program.
The announcement was confirmed by Chernor Bah, the Minister of Information and Civic Education.
Minister Bah shared the news during a press briefing, noting that the U.S. conducted a thorough review of trade and foreign investments among 25 countries participating in the MCC program.
Out of those, only 12 countries received approval, including five from Africa. Notably, Sierra Leone distinguished itself as the sole nation on the continent to be cleared without any changes to its compact proposal.
The MCC Compact is expected to enhance energy access and reliability in Sierra Leone, contributing to economic growth and improved living conditions for its citizens.
