Sierra Leone Embassy in Saudi Arabia has opened book of condolence for victims of the Wellington Fire Disaster.
The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has opened a Book of Condolence at the Mission’s Conference Hall, in memory of the Sierra Leoneans who perished in the Wellington Tanker Explosion on Friday 5th November, 2021.
This follows the declaration of a three-day of nationwide mourning by His Excellency the President, (Brig. Rtd.) Dr Julius Maada Bio on Sunday 8th November, 2021.
Deputy Ambassador, Alhaji Mohamed Hassan Koroma who also serves as Head of Mission, made special prayers for the victims of the fire incident before the opening of the Book of Condolence.
He extended the Mission’s condolences to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery to those in critical conditions at various hospitals across the capital of Freetown.
Head of Chancery/Minister Plenipotentiary of Mission, Mr. Ibrahim Vandi Kondoh (Vicco) described the incident as tragic and a big loss to Sierra Leone. He appealed to the families of the bereaved to take heart and accept it as the will of Allah/God. Mr. Kondoh prayed to Allah for His divine mercy to avert future calamities of this nature.
“Sierra Leone has experienced a lot- from the decade-long civil war to the Ebola Virus Disease, Mudslide, COVID-19, and now this tragic inferno. We must learn from this as a country and pray that it never happens again in our beloved country,” he solemnly supplicated.
Since Tuesday 9th November, 2021, Diplomats in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been visiting the Embassy to sympathize with the Mission and sign the Book of Condolence.
May Allah/ God grant our departed compatriots Jannah-tul Firdus and speedily heal those who sustained various degrees of burns in the incident
May the Almighty also console the bereaved families and all Sierra Leoneans during this difficult period.
