The Government of Sierra Leone has declared Friday, 18th April and Monday, 21st April as public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

This was contained in a public notice from the State House released today April 17, 2025.

The notice reads: “The General Public is hereby informed that the following days have been declared as public holidays throughout the country:

“Friday, 18th April 2025 – Good Friday
“Monday, 21st April 2025 – Easter Monday.”

Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence.
