In a bid to ensure peace and stability during the upcoming elections for the Motor Drivers Union, Minister of Internal Affairs David Taluva has taken proactive measures to address tensions among conflicting parties.

The Minister recognized the potential for violence or the emergence of a parallel executive, which would undermine the union’s purpose. This engagement with the Ministry aims to foster collaboration, resolve disputes, and maintain national harmony.

During discussions, Minister Taluva emphasized the significant role of the Motor Drivers Union in the country’s development. He underscored the union’s responsibility to promote peace and compliance with the law, especially in the face of current disputes regarding the eligibility of presidential candidates and other executive positions for the forthcoming elections.

To ensure a peaceful environment, the Minister announced a temporary suspension of the elections until all issues are resolved. He urged union members to remain calm and committed to maintaining order and stability.

After extensive discussions, it was agreed that all parties would focus on unity and peaceful engagement, with a new election date to be established for a fair and violence-free process.

As the meeting concluded, Minister Taluva requested essential documents from the outgoing union executive, including the delegates’ list and other relevant evidence. This information will be presented to stakeholders for thorough review and investigation concerning the union’s executive positions ahead of the elections.

Many executive members and stakeholders expressed optimism that the Minister’s intervention would lead to a controlled situation, paving the way for free, fair, and peaceful elections.
