The Sierra Leone Parliamentary Delegation to ECOWAS Parliament, headed by Hon. Veronica Kadie Sesay, has safely arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, for the First Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament.
The ECOWAS Parliament, also known as the Community Parliament, is one of the Institutions of ECOWAS. It is the Assembly of Peoples of the Community serving as a forum for dialogue, consultation, and consensus for Representatives of the people of West Africa to promote integration. It was established under Articles 6 and 13 of the ECOWAS Revised Treaty of 1993.
The session commenced on May 20 and would end on May 31. Among other things, the session would discuss regional trade, integration, peace, democracy and stability within the community of nations to promote trade and economic activities for the growth and prosperity of their people.
Sierra Leone’s parliamentary delegation includes Hon. Veronica Kadie Sesay, Leader of Delegation, Hon. Shiaka Musa Sama, Deputy Leader of Delegation, Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Member, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, Member and Hon. Mabinty Funna, Member.
Each delegation would later present its country’s profile report for consideration by the Members of the ECOWAS Parliament.
