Speaker of Sierra Leone’s Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, met with a World Bank delegation and consultants from AH Consulting on Monday to advance the E-Parliament initiative under the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation program.

Emphasizing urgency, Speaker Thomas declared the project a cornerstone of his legacy and called for accelerated implementation.

“I am in a hurry to ensure that this project is successful,” stated Thomas, welcoming the team. He directed Parliament’s ICT Director to prioritize collaboration with the consultants, stressing the need for swift progress. The Speaker challenged the proposed six-month timeline as excessive, insisting on faster results. “I want this project to be one of my legacies as Speaker of Parliament,” he affirmed.

Herbert Rwamibazi, Director of AH Consulting, outlined the project’s framework via a PowerPoint presentation, detailing policy benchmarks, stakeholder engagement plans, and technical requirements. He assured Parliament of “effective service delivery,” aligning with goals to modernize legislative operations through digital infrastructure.

Reiterating his commitment, Speaker Thomas underscored the project’s broader significance: “We all rely on this [system] you are developing. Expediting it is critical.” His push reflects ambitions to bolster transparency and efficiency in Sierra Leone’s parliamentary processes, marking a pivotal step in the nation’s digital governance reforms.

The E-Parliament project aims to digitize legislative workflows, enhance public access to parliamentary activities, and streamline administrative functions. Further consultations are expected in the coming weeks.
