Sierra Leone’s delegation, led by the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis, participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025, highlighting the country’s cultural and culinary offerings to a global audience.

The three-day event, held at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, featured nearly 200 nations and over 4,000 exhibitors.

The Sierra Leone stand attracted visitors with samples of local dishes, including cassava and potato leaves, as part of an effort to position the nation’s cuisine as a key tourism attraction.

Minister Tunis emphasized the strategic use of technology in promoting Sierra Leone’s tourism sector, noting the ministry’s growing application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance destination marketing and visitor experiences.

During the forum, the Minister announced that Sierra Leone will host the 3rd UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy in Freetown next year. The event aims to further promote local cuisine, attract culinary tourists, and generate job opportunities.

The Sierra Leone delegation also engaged in bilateral meetings, interviews, and memoranda of understanding (MoU) with international tourism stakeholders.

Minister Tunis stated that these efforts are aligned with President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big Five Game Changers” agenda, focusing on strategic partnerships and innovation to grow the tourism sector.

Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Yvonne King Odigboh also participated in the event, supporting the country’s promotional activities.
