Sierra Leone’s National Public Health Agency (NPHA) on Wednesday released an update on the ongoing MPOX outbreak, confirming a total of 22 deaths attributed to the viral disease.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases across the nation has now reached 3,962 as of 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

The latest figures indicate 40 new cases were reported, bringing the total active cases to 848. While the death toll stands at 22, the NPHA also reported positive news with 91 new recoveries, contributing to a total of 3,092 individuals who have recovered from the illness.

According to the update, confirmed cases show a gender distribution of 1,886 females and 2,076 males affected. The Western Urban district continues to bear the brunt of the outbreak with 2,342 cases, followed by Western Rural with 790 cases. Other significantly impacted districts include Bombali (230 cases), Port Loko (142 cases), and Kenema (101 cases).
