The Sierra Leone Government, through the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) has announced a Salone Day National Symposium.

The event, themed “Understanding and Reclaiming Salone Day,” will take place on Monday, April 28th, 2025.

The Ministry of Information has revealed that the symposium will feature a lineup of distinguished National Historians. Attendees can expect presentations from renowned experts who will provide insights into the rich history and culture of Sierra Leone.

One of the esteemed historians to be featured at the event is Joe A.D Alie. With a career dedicated to education and historical research, Professor Alie has made significant contributions to the academic landscape of Sierra Leone. His expertise in history and social studies has had a lasting impact on both his students and the nation as a whole.

In addition to Professor Alie, the symposium will also include Madam Isatu Thorlu Bangura, a trailblazing Sierra Leonean woman known for her exemplary leadership skills. Joseph Kaifala, Chairman of the Monuments and Relics Commission of Sierra Leone, will also be among the distinguished guests.

This event is a celebration of Sierra Leone’s 64 Years of Independence, and attendees can look forward to a special presentation in honor of this milestone.
