The government of Sierra Leone has declared Saturday, March 8th, 2025, a public holiday to observe International Women’s Day.
A public notice issued by State House on March 7th, 2025, confirmed the holiday, stating that “the International Women’s Day will be observed on Saturday, 8th March 2025. Accordingly, Saturday, 8th March 2025, will be a public holiday nationwide.”
The declaration allows citizens across the country to participate in events and activities commemorating the day, which globally celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
The brain behind this purported press release should should reconsider it’s publication ,it’s an open secret that Saturday is a weekend . How can a weekend be declared as a public holiday ? Monday was the anticipated day and not Saturday.
Where in the constitution of Sierra Leone that says such?
Are you the least aware that there are institutions or companies that do half day on Saturdays? But with this notice, those institutions or companies are not supposed to engage their workers for any work purpose
