Kandeh Yumkella, Chairman of Sierra Leone’s Presidential Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security, represented the country at the Africa Energy Forum held in Barcelona, Spain.
Yumkella participated in a panel titled “Distributed Power and Commercial and Industrial Projects in Accelerating Universal Access.” The discussion focused on the development and sustainability challenges facing the African energy sector. The forum itself explored the theme of “Energy Systems of the Future: Balancing Africa’s Needs with Global Goals.”
Yumkella and his team actively engaged with project developers, including representatives from the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank (AfDB), and other investors. These discussions focused on forging partnerships and exploring investment opportunities to achieve universal energy access in Sierra Leone.
The forum served as a platform for Sierra Leone to connect with like-minded organizations and individuals. The potential for strategic collaborations and multilateral connections is believed to pave the way for significant advancements in the country’s energy sector.
