A group of Sierra Leoneans gathered outside the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Pademba Road with placard demanding the release of Alhaji Amadu Bah popularly known as Boss La.
Boss La was arrested by the Sierra Leone Police on Thursday 16th December 2021. He spent the night at Imatt Police Station and later transferred to CID where he has been detained for over two days.
His arrest came after using derogatory language against popular journalist and station manager for radio Democracy 98.1FM, Madam Asmaa James on his Facebook live on Sunday 12th December, 2021 for reporting on his bench warrant ordered by the Court of Sierra Leone without getting his own side of the story.
Sierra Leoneans condemned the action of Boss La and demanded apology from him. In less than 24 hours, he made a written apology on his Facebook page which was later followed by a video. On the video, the rapper regretted his actions and asked Madam Asmaa James, her family and women of Sierra Leone to forgive him.
In a press conference, Sierra Leone Police placed Boss La on a ‘warrant of arrest’ with the sum of Five Million Leones as reward for anyone that shares information that can lead to his arrest. Few hours later, the rapper posted on his Facebook page that he did not receive any phone call neither a text nor invitation letter from the Sierra Leone Police. On his way to seek for a protection at the American Embassy, he got arrested and assaulted by the police.
His arrest has triggered the minds of Sierra Leonean entertainers and called for his release and apologized to Asmaa James and her family. His loyal fans also gathered outside CID office with placard and demanded his release.
