Some Sierra Leoneans in the United Kingdom have stage a peaceful protest in front of the Commonwealth Headquarters in London.
According to Owl Press, the protest was against the rigging of the June 24 multitier election held earlier this year.
“The protest is geared towards forcing the Commonwealth and the international community to expedite their decision to take robust action on election riggers in Sierra Leone and save the fragile democracy,” Owl reported.
Report also indicated that the protest also attracted Sierra Leoneans in other European countries.
Photos shared on social media showed a large crowd with placards gathered outside the Commonwealth office in the British capital.
Post-election protests have also been held in the past on London’s Downing Street calling on the resignation of President Julius Maada Bio.
My advice to these attention seeking people, is to go home, or return to your place of work, and hold tight until 2028. President Bio is NOT going to resign. To the opposition; get your house in order, stop all these in-fighting, stop all this PPP, team A, team B nonsense. MP’s go to Parliament, and do the work that you were elected to do. As the saying goes, “A house divided cannot stand”. The fact of the matter is that, the government is going about the people’s business, with the support of the international community. All these protests are nothing but wasting of time.
APC In the 🇬🇧 UK protest and not Sierra Leoneans.
You guys in the diaspora should be ashamed of yourself. The international body you calling on has there flaws. Ask Donald Trump. Stop putting our beloved country in bad light as you are just not totally part of the process… shame on you.
Dem wan lek busy activities. London has refugee from countries which are at war, or the independent of media violated.
Even Nigerians, should be more dissatisfied about their elections. Yet their party back home went to court. The Cameronain has been oppressed by that government.
Not to talk about the Arab world, etc. Here are bunch of people that don’t want to believe in anything. Yet shamelessly with no prove of any legal action. Want commonwealth to remove the president that 3/4 of the country want him to continue.
Do they think the international community intervene in our war, because we are Sierra Leoneans?
Jame Joana, said it that time. There are protocol for those offices to take up any matters.
E feel say u Sabi pass all others in the west that are having issues with their government. Yet they don’t have to come out every day to make their claim.
Salone man get badheart.
