In a press release issued Wednesday 16th April 2025, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) announced the postponement of the its Annual National Media Awards 2024/25 ceremony, originally scheduled for Friday, 18th April 2025.
The new date for the event has been schedule for Tuesday, 6th May 2025.
According to the press release, this decision follows an unexpected delay in the production and delivery of the trophies intended for the award recipients.
“As the premier event celebrating excellence in journalism and media practice in Sierra Leone, we believe it is only fitting that the awards ceremony be held under the right conditions, with all elements in place to properly honour the deserving winners.”
“We deeply regret any inconvenience this change may cause. However, we are committed to delivering a befitting and dignified event that truly celebrates the outstanding contributions of our media practitioners,” said Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, President of SLAJ. “We ask for your understanding and continued support as we make this necessary adjustment.”
SLAJ remains grateful to its partners and stakeholders for their unwavering support in promoting press freedom, professionalism, and excellence in journalism.
