The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has officially announced the induction of its newest members, following a thorough review and approval process by the national executive.
These inductions mark the formal entry of new media practitioners into the esteemed body of SLAJ members across various regions of the country.
The Western Area leads with the highest number of approved members, totaling 67, along with two associate members. However, nine applicants are still pending approval, while two were not qualified.
The induction ceremony for these members is scheduled for September 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM, at the SLAJ headquarters located at 56 Campbell Street, Freetown.
In the Eastern Region, 17 new members have been approved, with 15 applications pending. Their induction will take place on September 12, 2024, at 9:00 AM, at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) office on Maxwell Khobe Street, Kenema District.
Meanwhile, the Southern Region will see 37 newly approved members inducted into SLAJ, with 22 applications still under review and three applicants deemed ineligible. The induction ceremony for this region is set for September 11, 2024, at 9:00 AM, at the SLAJ South Regional Office on Prince William Street, Bo City.
SLAJ extends its warmest congratulations to all newly approved members, recognizing their official entry into the association as a significant milestone in their careers as journalists.
