The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, departed Sierra Leone to attend the Continental Conference ‘Amplifying African Narratives in Climate Justice: Empowering Journalists to Advance Africa’s Just Transition Realization’ taking place in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire from the 4-5 September 2024.
The conference, organized by the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) in partnership with Monidaal FNV and Oxfam, aims to foster a more accurate and constructive portrayal of climate issues, highlighting innovative solutions or realizing just transition measures in Africa. The Conference will also create a platform for knowledge exchange and learning on climate justice, and advance storytelling and reporting skills to help shift the narrative from disaster to opportunity and resilience.
The SLAJ President is scheduled to speak on ‘Strategies for Engaging Policymakers and Promoting Climate Justice with Emphasis on Just Transition’ alongside Ms Solange Ayanone from Rwanda).
The Federation of African Journalists is the regional organization of IFJ affiliates in Africa – providing a vital collective voice in defence of the social and professional rights of all African journalists.
