The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) has announced the deployment of wide-body aircraft by Turkish Airlines as part of efforts to address recent left-behind and delayed baggage challenges affecting passengers.
According to a press release issued by the Authority, the decision follows discussions and coordination with Turkish Airlines and relevant stakeholders to ensure the speedy clearance of accumulated baggage and restore normal service delivery at the airport.

As part of the arrangement, Turkish Airlines will operate wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft on selected dates to facilitate the transportation of delayed baggage. The confirmed flight dates are 17 December, 24 December, and 11 January.
SLCAA disclosed that the first of the scheduled wide-body operations, which took place on 17 December, has already been communicated to all relevant parties, while additional notifications will be issued regarding the remaining flights.
The Authority further assured the public that it will continue engaging Turkish Airlines and other partners to secure additional wide-body flights where necessary, in order to minimize delays and ensure that passenger baggage is delivered as quickly as possible.
SLCAA expressed appreciation to the traveling public for their patience and understanding during the period and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting passenger convenience, safety, and service quality.
