Sierra Leone’s Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Memunatu Pratt has led a delegation from the tourism sector to participate in the world’s largest tourism trade fair, “International Tourismus Bourse (ITB)” in Berlin, Germany.
The event taking place for three consecutive days – from the 7th to the 9th of March 2023 at the prestigious City Cube, Messe Berlin, will host different individuals from different works of life and countries on a common purpose of tourism.
On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs together with other delegates attended a Ministerial round-table on the topic: “Mastering transformation on a Global Stage.”
During that session, Bahrain, Croatia, Egypt, and Georgia shared their experiences on how they are transforming their tourism in the face of a global crisis.
The Minister acknowledged that these strides are crucial to uplifting tourism development and improving inbound tourism, and with time she stands strong to showcase the beautiful attraction that Sierra Leone has.
“We cannot rest on our oars when others are taking advantage of the post-pandemic opportunities to revamp tourism,” she maintained.
The country’s representation in this year’s ITB Berlin is unique owing to the strategic location of the stand, the features on the stand and the networking opportunities available. The representation is funded by the World Bank through the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Programme.
