SLFA President Babadi Kamara and Deputy Minister of Mines Umaru Napoleon Koroma on [date] paid a courtesy call on Energy Minister Cyril Arnold Grant, congratulating him on his recent appointment and exploring potential collaborations between their sectors.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Kamara highlighted the critical role of electricity in football, noting that venues for the Leone Rock Premier League rely heavily on power, especially for evening matches. “Electricity not only ensures smooth games but also boosts business and entertainment at match venues,” he said.
He suggested that the Ministry of Energy could facilitate private energy companies to sponsor the Premier League or other tiers of football.
Deputy Minister Koroma emphasized the link between energy and mining, outlining ongoing efforts to connect mines to the national grid to enhance industrial electricity use and profitability. He also recalled a high-level delegation from the ministries of Energy and Mines that engaged in bilateral talks between Sierra Leone and Senegal in December 2025.
Minister Grant thanked his visitors and stressed the importance of collaboration through strategic partnerships.
He reaffirmed that energy is central to national growth and to the Feed Salone agenda, assuring that ongoing investments and reforms will support multi-sectoral development.
