The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially launched its highly anticipated Talent Development Scheme (TDS) for the 2025-26 season, marking a significant step towards advancing youth football across the country.

The initiative aims to identify and nurture emerging football talents through a competitive, structured, and sustainable pathway.

The launch took place on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, at the SLFA Academy, with an exciting array of matches across the U-15 and U-17 categories for both boys and girls. The opening fixtures of the league showcased the future stars of Sierra Leonean football and highlighted the SLFA’s commitment to grassroots development.

In the U-15 Girls opener, Vintage Academy FC secured a dominant 2–0 victory over Legend FC, making an early statement in the competition. The U-15 Boys category also saw an exciting contest, with Ports Authority FC edging out Old Edwardians FC with a narrow 1–0 win.

The U-17 Girls match saw East End Lioness FC put on a stellar performance, dominating Vintage Academy in a 4–0 win. In the final fixture of the opening day, Freetown City FC and East End Lions FC fought to a hard-fought goalless draw in the U-17 Boys category.

The launch of the TDS League is a part of the SLFA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the development of young football talent in Sierra Leone. The league is set to continue in January 2026, with further matches expected to showcase the country’s emerging football stars.

The successful kick-off of the Talent Development Scheme emphasizes the SLFA’s strategic approach to fostering youth talent through structured and competitive football.
