The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) branch in Canada has announced a scholarship opportunity for their members who might be eligible for the 2024/2025 academic year.

SLPP Canada opened the application portal for all undergraduate students and said the scholarship is only available for SLPP members admitted to an institution approved by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) in the 2023 or 2024 academic year. They added that applicants must also have a letter of support from either an SLPP District or Regional Executive together with an essay on how the applicant must have contributed or intend to contribute to President Julius Maada Bio’s Big Five Manifesto commitments.

The party’s Canada Branch said there are a total of between 10 and 20 awards which will be given out, and each awardee will receive between 4000 to 6000 NLe and a special preference will be given to students enrolled in Agriculture programs, female applicants in STEM programs and those who demonstrate need.

They said successful candidates will be part of a cohort who will receive supports and mentorship from SLPP Canada members.
